New carpet throughout lobbies, luxury vinyl tile through corridors, and office spaces were part of the interior component. Sealed concrete on level 5 was delivered for event and future office space.

Located at 1603 Orrington in downtown Evanston, the 308,695 sf office tower was built in 1969 in a Mies van der Rohe-style of architecture. McHugh also upgraded lighting in several areas, including color-changing LED lights retrofitted into the existing building façade.

Crews employed the top-down construction method on the 737,000 sf structure, enabling them to conduct above-grade construction while simultaneously excavating and building out underground portions of the structure. This method, rarely utilized, expedited construction timelines exponentially and helped crews achieve the client’s occupancy needs.

The nine-story building, which encompasses a full city block on Chicago’s acclaimed Restaurant Row, is one of the city’s most significant projects . The structure has become a visual anchor in the vibrant Fulton Market district while helping spur additional development in the area. In anticipation of its prominence, exterior design elements for the LEED Platinum certified building had to be carefully considered.

McHugh provided concrete services on 1K Fulton, a state-of-the-art office and retail building in the west loop Fulton Market area. Working with general contractor Linn-Mathis, McHugh crews added a new 313,000 sf, seven-story, cast-in-place structure adjacent to the existing 10-story building, and also performed repairs to the concrete in the existing structure. Designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architects, 1K Fulton offers highly efficient floor plates and designer interior common areas. Anchor tenant at the development is Google’s Chicago Office.

McHugh constructed a 12-story office tower atop a 3-story pedestal that combines 165,000 sf of Class A office space with 95,000 sf of retail space and 225 structured parking spots. All office space is leased to the University of Chicago.

Harper Court is a model of sustainable design and construction. The project is anticipated to be the first in the U.S. to combine four LEED certifications. It has already received LEED for Neighborhood Development Gold and LEED Gold for Core & Shell on the retail, office, and parking improvements.

Located immediately east of the United Center, the new 5-story, 250,000 SF facility is home to the Bulls’ and Blackhawks’ staff, United Center operations staff, Levy Restaurants & Catering, a team store, two TV studios, and a 25,000 sf atrium connecting the Addition to the United Center. The Michael Jordan statue was relocated to the atrium.
