Howard Brown Health is a new construction project rooted in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago.聽 At 91,000 sf, this 5-level project included street-level retail, pharmacy, lab, generous clinical space, underground parking, expansive rooftop terrace, and more.

Consolidating family care, dental services, behavioral health, administrative offices, and financial support are among the services provided at Howard Brown.

This multi-level medical facility with state-of-the-art technology also includes a comprehensive dental care center and medical office – doubling patient capacity.
New carpet throughout lobbies, luxury vinyl tile through corridors, and office spaces were part of the interior component. Sealed concrete on level 5 was delivered for event and future office space.

At 896 feet, 扣扣传媒 built this multi-use tower which is the tallest residential apartment-only building in Chicago. Rising to 76 stories at the south end of Grant Park, the 1.1 million sf building will include over 800 residential units with sweeping views of Lake Michigan, Grant and Millennium Parks, and the city skyline. The residential tower is set on a 16-story-base that will feature a 15,000 sf landscaped pool and amenity deck for residents. The base also contains parking for over 500 vehicles and 12,000 sf of retail space. The building includes two tiers of apartments, the Signature Collection representing units up to level 47, and the Skyline Collection on the upper floors (levels 49-76) that feature larger floor plans, higher ceiling heights, premium finishes, and access to an exclusive set of amenities and services.

The building includes a total of over 70,000 sf of amenity space, including a state of the art fitness center, pilates studio, spin studio, wellness studio, boxing ring, basketball and squash courts, a golf simulator, a 75鈥 indoor lap pool, spa suite with two treatment rooms, and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 steam and sauna rooms. Additionally, the Skyline residences have a separate amenity space at level 48 with its own outdoor terrace, a private bar lounge, a separate event space with catering kitchen, boardrooms, and additional gym and private training spaces.

NEMA Chicago聽is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

This project included the construction of two independent parking structures approximately two blocks apart at the University’s downtown campus. The first structure is a 12-story, 400,000 sf聽 facility with 1,250 spaces at the corner of Erie St. and Fairbanks Ct. The second structure is an 11-story, 700,000 sf facility with 2,002 spaces located at Huron St. and St. Clair Pl.

The structures include thirteen traction elevators, a 40,000 sf slurry wall retention system with external tiebacks and accommodations for future underground tunnels and overhead pedestrian bridges providing direct access to the planned hospital buildings. Due to the site’s proximity to Northwestern Hospital, extraordinary means were implemented to control noise and dust.

McHugh completed the Erie St. facility two months ahead of its already compressed 13 month schedule. The Huron St. facility was completed three months ahead of its 16 month scheduled completion.

McHugh constructed a 225,000 sf, two-story addition to this existing structure, increasing the capacity to 600 spaces. The work also included the addition of a new, four-story elevator tower enclosed in a window wall system and accented by a large skylight complimenting the characteristics of the surrounding community. The CTA station and bus yard remained operational at all times throughout the construction period. McHugh exceeded the targeted MBE/WBE participation goals set by the city, and the project was completed one month ahead of schedule.

The precast concrete building was designed to complement architectural elements of the surrounding community. McHugh completed the project while the existing garage remained in use.

A 275,000 sf cast-in-place, post-tensioned parking structure with space for 700 vehicles.

The superstructure is supported by medium-depth caissons which were installed while concrete work progressed in the sub-basement area. The structure is clad with glazed block along the entire ground floor elevation, topped with a glazed jumbo brick veneer to blend with the surroundings. A glass-backed and sided elevator tower complements the south elevation of the facility. The project schedule was expedited to meet the opening date of the hospital. This project, located in one of the city鈥檚 most crime-plagued areas, presented unique challenges to the project staff. McHugh/Riteway devised innovative ways to seek involvement of the community in the project. The project staff conducted seminars at local churches to encourage employment of the local youth, and built and maintained relationships with local relational bodies to ensure security at the project site during construction. As a result, McHugh/Riteway exceeded the county鈥檚 goals of minority participation for the project.

Chicago, Illinois Construction Project

A twelve-story, 275,000 sf, 700-vehicle parking facility with 15,000 sf of ground-level retail. The Adams and Wabash elevations are precast concrete and painted architectural cast-in-place concrete. The structure itself is constructed of an encapsulated post-tensioned support slab system, allowing column spans of almost 60 feet.

Project logistics made the Adams/Wabash Garage challenging. Tucked between Chicago鈥檚 elevated train tracks, an alley that remained open, an office building and Adams Street, construction proceeded smoothly due to in-depth coordination with all involved entities.

West Loop Self-Park was the largest parking structure in the downtown area at the time of construction. McHugh completed this project in 12 months, two months ahead of schedule.
